Welcome to the dorms! Here is what to expect!

Moving out of your parent’s house can be exhilarating! But at the same time, also frightening. The only thing you have to go off of is your friend’s stories and maybe a few posts or articles on the internet. Well here is an article for what you can expect technology-wise in the dorms to put some of your worries at rest!

 Fear not, we have Wifi.

May your worries of having to leave your dorm to reply to a simple email due to lack of WiFi be put to rest. Here at the University of Wyoming, we have Ethernet ports in every room so you can set up a router in your dorm. Even if you need help with it, we have our service center  in the IT Building right on sorority row north of the dorms which is open between 10 AM to 4 PM During summer and when fall semester begins, they are open at  8 AM to 5PM. So you don’t have to worry too much about not receiving hands-on help! Also, we have our Help Desk from 7:30 AM to 4:30 PM Monday through Friday during summer, when Fall semester begins it is open from 8-5 Monday through Friday.

There is a student lab in IT open 24 hours a day.

If for whatever reason you can’t access the internet in your dorm (let us know!) Or you need some peace and quiet you can come to UW-IT and work in the student lab available to you 24 hours a day 7 days a week. Each computer has specific software to fit most students needs! I would still check first to make sure before you make the trek over here without your laptop in hand.

So from a Technological standpoint, you have nothing to worry about! Have a great year everyone!
