Adobe InDesign CS6
As a student or a professional, you may find yourself tasked with designing certain types of publications. Whether it is a newsletter, brochure or flyer, chances are you will probably need to come up with an original creation. Where do you start? Adobe InDesign may be the perfect software to create and complete these types of projects. Not only can you create tangible and simpler projects with InDesign such as a brochure or newsletter, but it also allows you to create and design for different types of prints, tablets, and electronic pages. Here is a little more information on Adobe InDesign software.
How it Works
“Adobe® InDesign® CS6 software is a versatile desktop publishing application that gives you pixel-perfect control over design and typography. Create elegant and engaging pages for print, tablets, and other screens. Use new Adaptive Design Tools to easily repurpose layouts to look great on a variety of pages sizes, orientations, or devices (Adobe InDesign CS6 Creative Suite Family, 2012).”
Adobe InDesign is primarily used by graphic designers and laying out periodicals publications, posters and print. However, with the need and demand for creative minds and technology literate employees and students on the rise, Adobe software such as InDesign is being taught to virtually everyone and is a skill employers are looking for.
InDesign is a page layout application in which graphics (created elsewhere) and text are combined to create layouts and prepare them for printing. Graphics can be created or manipulated in Photoshop, (particularly raster graphics) and created in Illustrator. (known to be the industry standard in vector graphics) (M, 2012). So in other words, if you are going to be creating or editing photos or graphics you would need to look into using Adobe Illustrator or Photoshop. InDesign has the tools in which a user would input those graphics and photos into a certain publication layout.
“Upgrade to InDesign CS6 to efficiently design page layouts for print or screens, faster and easier than ever. Improve productivity with time-savers such as the split window, Content Collector tools, grayscale preview, easy access to recently used fonts, and more. (Adobe InDesign CS6 Creative Suite Family, 2012).”
